The Grass Valley Ladies Relief Society helps residents of western Nevada County by providing everything from food and shelter to dental care, diapers and college scholarships. Formed in 1873 by a group of mine owners’ wives who aimed to assist those families whose breadwinners were disabled in mining accidents, the society is one of the oldest charitable organizations in California. Our most visible effort is the annual Donation Day Parade, a Christmas tradition unique to western Nevada County.
